PVC: let’s find out together

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a material consisting of 57% salt and 43% oil, making it a plastic of natural origin. The benefits of PVC are undoubtedly significant: it is versatile, durable, fire and corrosion resistant, recyclable and therefore chosen for the manufacture of countless products. It is the third most widely used plastic product in the world, after polyethylene and polypropylene.

Insensitive to acids, resistant to mould microorganisms and self-extinguishing, it has a high degree of rigidity and is an excellent thermal insulator, which is why the PVC product is approved as a building material. PVC as a thermoplastic material, due to its high ductility and exceptional versatility, is used in this field to make pipes, guttering, exterior cladding, roofing, cable ducts and fixtures. As if that were not enough, over the years PVC has “evolved” through the addition of new materials to its processing, resulting in final compounds with improved performance. Thus we find C-PVC, Dielectric PVC, SEMI-SPANISH PVC, EXPANDED PVC and ATOXIC PVC created by adding additives such as stabilisers, plasticisers, lubricants and pigments.

A truly multi-tasking polymer, whose composition allows it to present itself both in the solid state (in the natural version as rigid PVC) and with characteristics of flexibility and modelling (when mixed).

Why choose PVC over a metallic material: the 5 main advantages

A PVC product is better than products made from other materials, such as aluminium, because:

  1 – PVC has a more environmentally friendly production cycle, PVC involves very little dust production, minimal carbon monoxide emission, low sulphur dioxide diffusion and reduced energy use compared to aluminium;
